Dark Occultist- The Morrigan Oct. 2020

The Morrigan

Shot for the Samhain season of 2020.

This series is inspired by The Morrigan, the goddess of Death and Guardian of the Dead in Irish-Celtic mythology. She was most associated with inciting war, then stirring up the fury and frenzy of battle, and finally as the bringer of death. The Morrigan is a triple goddess, her trinity/ three sisters consisting of Badb, Macha and Anand (Occasionally also appears a Nemain or Fea.) The Morrigan can also appear alone.

Her role often involves premonitions of violent deaths (similar to a banshee, Badb) as well as influence the outcome of war. She appears in visions, in crows, shape shifting, and a manifestation of earth and sovereignty.

She is the embodiment of aspects of the dark feminine, her dualistic desire to protect and willingness to destroy for the sake of growth. letting the darkness cull what needs to be culled in order for newness to have the space to grow—much like the season of Samhain, the final and last harvest of the year.
